Through deconstruction and repetition these semi- circular units are transformed into a dynamic communicative symbol representing the concept of diyafah , hospitality, and the implied ritual of shared coffee drinking. They create an iconic unit, a present day totemic statement, a vehicle of identity at a theoretical level.
The work provides a platform to address the associated issues of sustainability and ethical practice. Their altered identity becomes a non-identity. They retain in their monochromatic simplicity, a relevant validity. The intensive method of construction becomes an ontological process creating somatic metaphors.
Between the individual folded sections lie intervals of random spatial designation but there is a complex order in the simple network.
